André Mancebo Heizer is a writer and filmmaker based in Florida. His work has been featured at the Florida Film Festival, Miami short Film Festival, Austin Spotlight Film Festival, Chicago Blow-Up Arthouse Filmfest, Paris Film Art and more. Born in Brazil, his artistic sensibility is deeply shaped by his experiences as an immigrant navigating between dual cultures. André is interested in exploring the psyche of the 21st century person: the thoughts that keep us awake, the moments that make us feel alive, and his work has tackled themes such as individual vs. collective identity, the effects of anxiety, the struggles of the “gig” economy, mis/communication and social injustice. He’s an alumni of Florida State University, where he specialized in creative writing, literature, and film studies.
